When you ask for a safari quote, it can feel like it should take a minute. It rarely does, because a real quote is built from many moving parts that all have to agree. Understanding them helps you ask for the right thing and spot a quote that leaves things out.
What goes into a quote
- Your dates, group size and the visitor category of each traveller, because many fees differ for foreign visitors, residents and East African citizens
- Park fees and permits, which the Uganda Wildlife Authority (opens in a new tab) sets and revises
- Availability of lodges, vehicles and guides on your dates
- Driving times between stops and the pace you want
- Meals, activities and extras such as boat trips, porters or cultural visits
Why a good quote takes time
Permits and rooms are limited, especially in the drier months, so a quote has to check what is actually available. Driving times in Uganda depend on road conditions, and a plan that looks fine on a map can mean a nine-hour day in the vehicle. We check each leg against the roads and adjust the route so you are not spending your holiday on the road. Our guide on getting from Entebbe to Mbarara shows how much the route matters.
What we need from you
- Travel dates, and how flexible they are
- Number of travellers, ages and where each person lives
- The experiences you care about most, for example gorillas, big game, birds or culture
- Your comfort level for accommodation and your budget range
- Any special needs, such as mobility, diet or children
The plan your trip page collects all of this, and you can also send us a message through the contact page or on WhatsApp.
How to compare quotes
Put two quotes side by side and compare them line by line. Check whether park entry and activity fees are included, which lodges are named, whether the vehicle is private, and what the cancellation terms are. A lower price often means a line was left out. Our safari cost breakdown lists the questions to ask.
Check the operator
A licensed operator should be able to show you its credentials. The Uganda Tourism Board (opens in a new tab) lists licensing and registration categories for tour companies, and a good operator will explain how permits are booked and what happens if dates change.
What happens after you accept
Once you agree a plan, we confirm permits and rooms, share a day-by-day itinerary and give you a packing list. Our first-time Uganda safari FAQs cover what to prepare before you fly.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a safari quote take?
Simple trips can be quoted quickly. Trips with gorilla permits, several parks or special requests take longer because availability has to be checked.
Why do you need to know where each traveller lives?
Because many park fees depend on residency. Foreign visitors, foreign residents and East African citizens pay different rates.
Can I change dates after I accept a quote?
Permits and rooms are tied to dates, so changes depend on availability and the terms agreed. Ask about flexibility before you commit.
Is the quote a final price?
A quote shows the price for the plan as agreed. Park fees and exchange rates can change, so confirm how and when prices are fixed.
